Karvan FC, the winner of bronze medals of Azerbaijan’s 2004-2005 national championship, has tough time ahead, following a defeat to Polish Lech in the first Intertoto match. Karvan lost 1 to 2, and this was predicted by many football specialists, who were skeptical over the club’s decision to play against the Poles with major players watching the match from outside the field.

The Poles scored to the first goal in the 24th minute of the game, and started the second half of the match as would-be winners. However, Karvan’s persistent attacks resulted in the response goal by Yuri Muzyka in the 62nd minute of the match. The Poles managed to bounce back, as the Azeri team tried to retain a вЂtie’ score вЂ" Zbignew Zakrjewski broke the status quo and helped the Polish team to have an easier host match against Karvan in Widzew, Poland, in a week.
