Azerbaijani karate wrestlers is probable to gain a chance to join the Olympic Games in Beijing at the 117th session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The IOC members will adopt the program of the summer games on Friday through voting. The sports might be excluded from the list of Olympic games for the first time since 1936, while the sportsmen will still compete on 28 types of sports. Last the horse polo was excluded from the Olympic Games in 1936.
This sports gaining 51% of the votes will remain in the program. The results will be publicized only after completion of the secret voting. The voting followed the three-year appraisal of the sports and publication of a 265-page report on results of appraisal.
In case any sports is excluded fro the list of Olympic games, the new ones could be included Saturday. Golf, karate, squash, rugby and roller sports are among. The victory of London in the struggle for hosting the Olympic Games 2012 strengthened the position of the rugby, the most popular one in the UK. Moreover, the appearance of the booklets published by the International Rugby Players Union with detailed description of the sports also testifies for it.
