The sanctioned rally of the journalists was held at Galaba square on July 17.
The rally dedicated to the birthday of Elmar Husseynov, the editor-in-chief of the magazine �Monitor’, started at 17 am. In his opening remarks, Shahbaz Khuduoglu, the editor-in-chief of the magazine �Ganun’, said though more than 4 months had passed since the murder of the journalist, there was no progress in the investigation of the crime.
The arrest of people, who committed and ordered this crime, would be the best gift to journalists on the eve of 130th anniversary of the Azerbaijani press, Khuduoglu added.
Azer Hasrat, the organizer of the action, Aydin Guliyev, the editor-in-chief of �Baki Khabar’, Ganimat Zahid, the editor-in-chief of �Azadlig’ daily, Eyyub Karimov, the head of the Legal Division of the Council of Press, Rauf Arifoglu, the editor-in-chief of �Yeni Musavat’, condemned the murder of the journalist and stressed the necessity of revealing the murderers.
Rushana Husseynova, late Elmar Husseynov’s spouse, also demanded from the law-enforcement bodies to reveal the crime. The leaders of the parties, participated at the action, did not address with speech.
The petition of the action was read out at the end. The petition demanded involving the U.S. Federal Security Bureau in the investigation into the case, as well to well known lawyers and journalists of the country to this case.
After the action the journalists moved to the 3rd Alley of Honor, where Elmar Husseynov was buried. The participants of the rally put fresh wreathes on the journalist’s tomb. No incident was fixed during the action.
