PROJECT OF SAMUR-YALAMA PARK READY FOR ADOPTION OF PRESIDENT

The interdepartmental coordination of the project on establishment of a national park in the Samur-Yalama zone of Azerbaijan is complete. The German Development bank KfW is ready to take up its financing under a program on South Caucasus.

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural resources told Trend the project was ready for introduction to the President’s Apparat for further consideration.

"In some days the project would be sent to the Cabinet and then it would be presented to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for consideration. The President will provide authorities on signing of an agreement with KfW," the same source said.

Meanwhile, the Baku office of KfW expressed its satisfaction on completion of the process of coordination of the project. "The Ministry of Industry and Energy of Azerbaijan has agreed on it and this fact demonstrates readiness of the government to provide the population of the northern region with the sources of power to save forests and parks from cutting for fuel", - they said at the government.

The German bank will allot 2.55m euros for the project. The memorandum of understanding was signed in Baku on 6 September last year. The park will cover 30,000h area in Khachmaz and Devechi regions of Azerbaijan. The unique relict forests and the marshes where the migrating fowl breed comprise of 20,000h and 10,000h respectively.
