Ombudsman calls on citizens to assist in children with blood diseases

Elmira Suleymanova, the Azerbaijani Ombudsman, called the citizens to assist the citizens suffering from blood diseases. The Ombudsman put forward an initiative on the organization of an action on donor within 10 days in respect to assist the children in need of blood, in particular those suffering from hemophilia and thalassemia. Employees of the Ombudsman’s Office will join this mission.

Suleymanova noted Azerbaijan has around 3,000 children with blood diseases. 217 of them suffer from hemophilia, 627 вЂ" from thalassemia. The Ombudsman noted the necessity of conduct of enlightenment work in the sphere of blood donation.

The Director of the Scientific and Research Institute of Hematology and Trans-physiology, Azad Hajiyev, every of 12 people suffer from this disease in Azerbaijan. he announced that two state programs will be adopted shortly in this sphere.
