Signing of the country program for 2005-2009 took place on 29 December 2005 in Baku between the government of Azerbaijan and UNICEF, Trend reports. The document has been signed by the vice Premier of the government Elchin Efendiyev and the head of the UNICEF office in Azerbaijan Hanaa Singer.
According to Elchin Efendiyev, Azerbaijan and UNICEF cooperate closely since 1993. “The first country program with UNICEF was implemented in 2000-2004В", - he said.
Hanaa Singer said, allocation of $100 million is planned within the framework of the program. В"However, we try that Azerbaijan would receive more for implementation of projects in line with the world standards. We want that Azerbaijan would turn into the model for other countries in this respect and hope in 3-5 years such model will be ready”, she noted.
Works in the field of health, youth development, children protection and education will be performed within this program.
