The situation in the religious tolerance field of Azerbaijan causes approval, the head of the delegation of the Coalition on protection of freedom of confession and religion defense of Norway Dag Newgard, who arrived in Baku to get familiar with the situation in the field of religious freedoms said in a statement on 5 January 2006 at the meeting with the chairman of the committee on work with the religious structures (CWRS) Rafik Aliyev, the state committee told Trend.
Njugard appreciated highly the CWRS initiative on establishing the rehabilitation centre for persons who suffered religious violence, noting there is practice for such structure activities in Norway.
The CWRS chairman Aliyev said, in his turn, in Azerbaijan the state does not interfere into the religious congregations affairs, while the congregations are actively involved in the social processes inside the society.
According to him, ensuring of religious tolerance in Azerbaijan which has a long standing tradition became possible thanks to the efforts of the religious confessions. В"The Christian, Judaic and Moslem congregations of Azerbaijan cooperate closely.
