The Azerbaijani Health Ministry develops projects on provision of TB and AIDS-diseased people with medicines. The work is carried out in cooperation with different international organizations, the Ministry told Trend.
The number of the people diseased with renal insufficiency, hemophilia, thalassemia, AIDS, cancer and tuberculosis in Azerbaijan comprises 16,000.
In 2006 the government allocated 19m AZN from the public budget for purchase of medicines, while only provision of aforesaid people with medicines requires over 20m AZN.
The Ministry developed 5 state programs on provision of these people with medicines at expense of state funds. Two of them on blood diseases have been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, the rest are under unification.
