Second suit on Azeri officer filed

On Tuesday the Pesht Central Court of Hungary held second hearings on the second process over Ramil Safarov, an Azerbaijani officer, the Azerbaijani embassy in Hungary told Trend.

During the hearings a suit was filed on Safarov. The judge chairing at the process appealed to Safarov with several questions. After the question were put by the law-defender of the accused and the Prosecutor. At the resolution of the court the next round of hearings will be held in 3 May 2006 and it will take testimonies.

Klara Fisher, a Hungarian law-defender, defends Safarovs rights in the court. Employees of the Azerbaijani embassy also participated in the hearings.

The second suit on Safarov was filed in connection with an incident which he had in June 2004 with controllers in the isolation cell. The incident which resulted in a clash, was caused by Safarovs lack of knowledge of Hungarian language. Safarov is incriminated in the resistance to the representatives of the authorities and he can be imprisoned for 2 years, as of inexact data. The first round of hearings on the case was held on 17 January 2006. The prosecutor brought a charge against Safarov in Turkish.

Next legal proceedings the first case of Ramil Safarov (charged in murder of an Armenian officer, Gurgen Markarian, on 9 February 2004) was scheduled for 7 March.
