The second conference of world Azerbaijanis will be held in Baku on 16 March 2006 with participation of state and governmental officials, ministers and MPs from approximately 50 world countries, Nazim Ibrahimov, the chairman of the State Committee on Azerbaijanis residing abroad. He said that roughly 100 delegates were invited to the event.
Along with Diaspora organizations of Azerbaijan, functioning in different world countries, attending the forum will be ministers on national issues, migration, representatives from the governments and parliaments of Turkey, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine and Russia. Ibrahimov said that the Turkish State Minister, Mehmet Aydin, has given his agreement for participation the conference.
The majority of guests are expected from Turkey and Russia. 170 delegates from Russia will participate in the event.
The chairman of the committee also noted that along with the preparations for conference, they also attach importance to event geld in different countries in connection with the next anniversary of the Khojaly genocide. Ibrahimov said that Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations in many world countries hold different event to commemorate the bloody tragedy and the State Committee renders every organizational assistance in this respect.
