The awarding ceremony of journalists was held at the International Press Center on Tuesday. 140 journalists were rewarded with Progress medal, the titles Honored Figure of Culture and Honored Journalist at the instructions of Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani President, in relation to the 120th anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press Trend reports.
The event was opened by Fatma Abdullazade, the head of the humanitarian department of the Presidents Apparat. The awarding ceremony also concurs with the 100th anniversary of Molla Nasraddin magazine. Abdullazade called Ekinchi, Shergi Rus, Molla Nasraddin and other publications the foundation of the Azerbaijani national media and national treasure-house. According to Abdullazade, every modern media is loyal to the traditions of these publications.
Abdullazade presented premiums to journalists. 76 journalists were rewarded with Progress medal, 26 - diplomas Honored Figure of Culture, 36 - Honored Journalist.
15 employees of Azertaj State Telegraph Agency were granted with Progress medal, 6 - Honored Figure of Culture title at the Presidents decree on the 85th anniversary of the agency.
