The strategy of development of tourism in Azerbaijan for 2006-2016 is drawn up, Trend reports quoting Abulfaz Garayev, the Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Minister.
The new strategy will cover all regions of the country. Program on 8 regions have been already worked out. Implementation of the strategy will allow Azerbaijan to increase number of tourists arriving in the country.
In accordance with statistics of 2005, number of tourists dropped by 3% or 4%. According to Garayev, such decrease was observed in many countries in relation to global occurrences taking place in the world. Around 800,000 tourists arrived in Azerbaijan in 2005.
Touching upon the plans of the Ministry, Garayev said that business forums were planned to be organized in some regions soon.
