Oktay Shiraliyev: The State Medical University plans to reduce enrollment in 2006
The Azerbaijan State Medical University is expected to curb the enrollment on medical specialties this year. This matter was discussed by the University leadership and the Azerbaijani Ministry of Healthcare, Healthcare Minister, Oktay Shraliyev told Trend.
Proposals to reduce the number of available places in the university are already presented to the Cabinet of Ministers, he said.
Besides, works to increase the professional level of both teachers and students are under way; they include the increase of material-technical base and application of the modern equipment.
There are approximately 2,000 vacant job opportunities for doctors in the regions, the Minister said. To fill these vacancies this year graduates will be send to the different regions of our country, he concluded.
