The Sabayil District Prosecutors Office closed a lawsuit filed on 9 October 2005 in connection with the assault and battery of an employee of Ayna-Zerkalo newspaper, Idrak Abbasov. The Press Council told Trend. The Prosecutors office stated that it closed the case due to absence of evidences for the case.
Abbasov announced that a lawsuit was filed at the Sabayil Police Precinct in accordance with Article 132 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code. However, upon interference of the journalist it was changed to Article 163 (prevention of professional activities by a journalist) and was submitted to the Sabayil District Prosecutors Office.
