Azeris deported from West Azerbaijan to appeal to parliament, int'l org

The liberation organization Iravan will appeal to Milli Majlis [Azerbaijani parliament] and international organizations in connection with issue of status of refugee to people deported from West Azerbaijan. The statement was made in a news conference, held by officials of the organization.

The chairman of the organization, Tebriz Musayev, said that a notion refugee, settled in the territory of Azerbaijan from 1988 to 1992, are regarded the citizens of Azerbaijan, indicated in Article 5.3 of the Law on Citizenship in 1998, is violation of the law. Paragraph 128 of the UN Convention adopted in 1951, openly indicates that no country, where the refugees sheltered, can accept them as citizens without their agreement, Musayev underlined.

Musayev also noted that thats why they are not granted with the status of refugee on the level of UN. We cant prove either to Armenia, not international organizations that over 200,000 Azerbaijanis are refugees. Musayev also said that they will set up a campaign of signature collection refugees to verify that they hold a refugee status.
