World Cultural and Natural Heritage Committee with UNESCO called Azeri government to pay more attention to protection of Icheri Sheher, facility of global significance. Eleonora Huseynova, Azerbaijans permanent representative to UNESCO, told Trendsuch a decision had been made at the 30th session of said committee held these days in Vilnius.
Huseynova said the Committee took as the basis recommendations of members of monitoring group that studied this cultural and historical monument. The session also discussed including Girkan woods in the list of UNESCO global cultural and natural heritage.
At the session Azerbaijan was represented by delegation, including Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev, Eleonora Huseynova and officials of Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. First lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, good Will Ambassador to UNESCO, sent a greeting to the participants of the session.
