On July 21, the special envoy of European Union for South Caucasian countries Peter Semneby met with the law-protectors Novella Jafaroglu, Araz Abdullayev and Eldar Zeynalov, Trend reports with reference to Novella Jafaroglu.
According to Jafaroglu, during the meeting, Semneby was interested in the position of Azerbaijani law-protectors in the sphere of protection of human rights in Azerbaijan. The law-protector provided information about the activity of law-protection organizations repeat parliamentary elections held on May 13, 2006, preparation to the municipal elections in October 2006 and the situation related with the freedom of word and assembly in the country. At the end of the meeting, Semneby noted that EU supports to ensure the pre-eminence of law in Azerbaijan, Jafaroglu added.
