Famous Azeri scientist passes away

Fikret Abdullayev, famous Azeri scientist, passed away in his 62 in Mexico-city.

Firket Abdullayev was born October 18, 1943, in Baku. In 1989 he defended his doctor essay in Ukraine and received the degree of Biol.Sc.D..

In 1990-1994 he was working as visiting scientist in Professor Gerald Frenkels lab at Rutgers University, NJ. His work with US scientists in biological department resulted in 6 articles in prestigious international scientific magazines and tight links with leading scientists of the US and other countries.

In July 1995 he was invited by the Ministry of Science and Technique of Mexico and dispatched to work in Queretaro University. In September 1997 Abdullayev was appointed head of Experimental oncology lab. His works in search and study of anti-cancer medications resulted in 25 articles and chapters in books issued in the USA, Mexico, China, India.

In October 2004, Professor Abdullayev was elected the Academician with Mexican academy of Sciences.

During all his life Abdullayev propagated Azerbaijan and the science in our country.
