Azeri Organization offers to provide Azerbaijani expelled to Kirghizia during Soviet Union with refugee status

In needs to provide Azerbaijanis expelled to differed countries during Soviet Union with the status of refugee, Akif Allahverdiyev, the head of Public Union of Kirghizian Azerbaijanis Azeri, told Trend.

The Organization Azeri acts with a proposal to provide the Azerbaijanis expelled to Kirghizia in 1937 with refugee status. Besides, the organization considers necessary to realize this process in Azerbaijani parliament.

The candidate of medical sciences and honour doctor of Kirghizia Arif Allahverdiyev noted that 20 thousand Azerbaijanis live in Kirghizia and most of them are the families

of persons repressed during Soviet Union. In 1932, Azerbaijanis were repressed to Kirghizia. Only thousand persons from the expelled 10 thousand persons remained alive till the fall of 1933. They are from different regions of Azerbaijan. Beside repression, many Azerbaijanis in 1937 were executed, he told, adding that they will appeal to Azerbaijani parliament for providing Azerbaijanis expelled to Middle Asia with refugee status.

Allahverdiyev noted that after the creation of the State Committee for Work with Azerbaijanis, relations were established with Azerbaijanis diasporas.

According to him, the State Committee has close relations with Azeri. Azerbaijani school and ensemble function in the composition of Azeri organization and this helps keep national-cultural values.
