Group I examinations to Azeri varsities take place today

The entrance examinations on Specialty Group I for 2006/2007 academic year are taking place today, Trend reports.

The State Commission for Students Admission (SCSA) is arranging entrance examinations on 127 subjects for entrants and future cadets. 29,587 entrants (28,144 in Baku and 1,443 in Nakhchivan) are taking part in examinations. From this amount 22,236 are men and 7,351 ladies.

SCSA officials said 18,312 entrants applying for Group I are alumnis 2006 of high-school (13,719 men and 4,593 ladies). 161 entrants are foreign countries citizens (most of them Azerbaijanis living abroad). 128 entrants have a higher education, 114 men and 14 ladies. 884 entrants are alumnis of specialized secondary institutions, 590 men and 294 ladies. The eldest of Group I entrants is 52, the youngest 16 years old.

Right after the exam independent experts will review test questions of Group I. upon completion of the review, correct answers will be posted on SCSA web-page.

On the same day employees and experts of SCSA will provide details on correct answers to examination questions in a live show at Space TV channel.

The answer cards specially guarded will be checked only after the last exam taking place August 12.
