SLE disclosed report on monitoring of Azeri courts

The Society of Legal Enlightenment (SLE) announced the report on monitoring of courts, head of SLE Intigam Aliyev told Trend.

Beginning from May 2006, the organization, in cooperation with the U.S. Fund for Democracy Support, carries out monitoring within the project Reform of court system in Azerbaijan, which mainly covers the court processes on civil cases.

The monitoring was held in Supreme, Appeal and Economic Courts, Courts of Nizami and Surakhani districts of Baku city, Nizami and Kapaz courts of Ganja city and courts of Masalli and Lankaran districts. During the monitoring, several aspects of legal proceedings were touched on.

The report included the rights of open court process, exercising the right of free translator, explaining to the sides their rights, rules in court hall, principle of equality of sides, facts of applying tortures and violation of electoral legislation.
