I heard the name of former senior employee of the Central Criminal Search of the Interior Ministry, Haji Mammadov, only after his arrest, Trend reports citing Namik Abbasov, the former Azerbaijani National Security Minister, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Uzbekistan, as stating in Baku on 14 August. He was commenting on his role in unmasking Mammadovs criminal acts as head of a criminal band.
He underlined that the National Security Ministry received information on employees of different organizations and ministries. The materials that were not under the competence of the Security Ministry, were sent on appointment to the Prosecutor Generals Office or the Interior Ministry.
Abbasov did not rule out that the National Security Ministry received information on Haji Mammadovs acts even in 1999 (as the local media writes Trend). In 1999 Mammadov, a senior employee of the Interior Ministry, was not accused of the kidnapping and assassination, the materials could be presented to the relevant law-enforcement bodies.
The ex-minister also voiced his hope that the truth on the case of Mammadov will be revealed at the court.
