An International Scientific Conference was held in Cambridge University (Great Britain) dedicated to Dmitri Shostakovich, the 100th Jubilee of the great composer of 20th Century at the end of September 2006. The Conference brought together scientists from Great Britain, the United States of America, Canada, Germany, Israel and Russia and was one of the numerous events held in Great Britain in honor of the great composer, Trend reports.

The Conference was also attended by Aida Huseynova, the Professor of Baku Music Academy who delivered a report Shostakovich and Azerbaijan. Her report reflected amazing information regarding the relationship of Shostakovich with his school friend, highly gifted Azerbaijani pianist, teacher and composer Elmira Nazirova, as well as the secret of the 10th Symphony of Shostakovich in which the great composer sealed the name (as a musical monogram) of his Baku school friend.

The relationship of Shostakovich with Elmira Nazirova was the focus of attention in the sensational report. The report of the Azerbaijani musician was followed by a presentation of a rare video material relating to the creative abilities and personality of Elmira Nazirova.

In recognition of the creative work of Shostakovich, Great Britain marks the Jubilee of the great composer on a large scale. It is an honor that the word of the Azerbaijani scientist and the music of the Azerbaijani composers have been heard and been dedicated to the great composer.
