Secondary School Built Under Japan's Grant Program to Open in Gabala Region

The implementation of the next round of the project implemented in Azerbaijan at he expense of Japanese grant. Trend has been informed at the Japanese embassy in Baku that on 3 October a secondary school built at the expense of Japanese grant a program Grassroots and Human Security' will opening Uludag village of Gabala District, Azerbaijan.

The Grant Contract of the above-mentioned project had been concluded in December 2005 between the Embassy of Japan and Non-Governmental Organization Avand, which is the planner of the project. The scale of the project is $92,420. The aim of the project is to improve the quality of education through establishing favorable conditions for 500 children living in the Jeyranbatan Settlement. The Azerbaijani Government also provided $53,000.

The Grant Program Grassroots and Human Security' began in the Year 2000, Tadahiro Abe, the Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to Azerbaijan, stated in an opening ceremony of the school. Including this project, to date 74 GGP Projects to the amount of $4.7m has been implemented in Azerbaijan. The scale of Japan's ODA to Azerbaijan since its independence has amounted to $700mln. in total.
