Justice Minister: An Issue on Passing National Security Pre-Trial Isolator to the Justice Ministry Not to Be Considered
An issue on passing the pre-trail isolator of the National Security Ministry to the Justice Ministry is not considered, Fikrat Mammadov, Azerbaijan Justice Minister, told journalists, Trend reports.
Expressing his attitude toward the information spread about the above-mentioned fact, the Minister said that the pre-trial isolator of the National Security Ministry is working absolutely transparently in accordance with the exiting legislation. In 2000, in the name of the Azerbaijan Government, the Justice Ministry of the Country signed a special agreement with the International Red Cross Committee. According to the above-mentioned agreement, representative of the International Organization obtained a possibility to visit all the penitentiary institutions in the country, including the above-mentioned pre-trail isolator to get acquaint with the situation there. They are constantly showing their interest to the situation with persons who are kept both in the pre-trial isolator of the National Security and the other pre-trail isolators. Up to date, neither facts on violating the existing legislation, nor applying tortures to those who are kept there has been registered, said the Justice Minister.
