(news.yahoo.com) - Elijah Wood will head the international cast of the English-language whodunit "Oxford Murders," the film's Spanish producer said Tuesday.
Wood joins previously announced British veteran John Hurt in cult director Alex de la Iglesia's much-anticipated film, set to start shooting January 22 for nine weeks in England.
Wood, famed for his role as Frodo in the "Lord of the Rings" movies, will play a student at Oxford University who becomes intrigued by a murder. He is taken under the wing of a Sherlock Holmes-style mentor, who uses logic and math symbols to try to stop a series of murders.
"I'm delighted to work with Elijah, who undoubtedly has the most powerful eyes in the industry and who is perfect for the part," de la Iglesia said in a statement released by Tornasol Films.
