MP Elmira Akhundova, a Member of the Permanent Commission for Social Policy of the Milli Majlis, informed Trend that a draft which will envisage alternative punishment to female criminals is under preparation in Azerbaijan now. According to her, she prepared the above-mentioned draft together with some experts. The document will be submitted to the Permanent Commission for Social Policy of the Azerbaijan Parliament in the near future. I hope that we shall have an opportunity to discuss this bill during the forthcoming spring session of the Parliament, she said. Mrs. Akhundova said that due to that, the resolution on the situation with females in South Caucasus, which was approved by the Committee for gender equity of the Council of Europe contains corresponding recommendations.
