The Azerbaijan Justice Ministry viewed 16,500 municipal enactments in 2006. 1,000 out of them got canceled, a source in the Centre for Affairs with Municipalities of the Justice Ministry informed Trend.
Due to the cancellation of some enactments, the courts have initiated suits, compiled protocols on administrative mistakes on the cases of the Chairpersons of 150 Municipalities. Due to the checks carried out in accordance with the rules of administrative examinations, it was found that the detected shortages had been paid by the local budgets. Documents on the activity of 17 Municipalities which committed serious legal violations have been sent to the Public Prosecutor Office for further investigation.
At the same time, over 1,000 hectares of land, which were illegally presented by the Municipalities have been returned to them. Moreover, a decision on the registration of 40 NGOs was taken.
