Increasing Prices for Newspapers May Increase Number of Their Sale

Society Materials 30 January 2007 13:39 (UTC +04:00)

The Editor-in-Chief of Yeni Musavat newspaper, Rauf Arifoglu, informed Trend that by increasing the price for a newspaper, it may increase the number of their sale because the demand for a daily newspaper is linked to the political situation in the country.

From February 1st, the price for the daily newspaper will be increased by AZN 0,5 and they will be sold for AZN 0,30.

Arifoglu stressed that the price increase will affect the budget of the buyer. However, experience of past years has shown that if the cost of the newspaper is increased twice over, it does not adversely affect their sale.

If political activity increases in the country, the sale of the newspaper will not decrease, but increase. Therefore, selling the newspaper for AZN 0,30 does not mean that they will fully lose their sale, Arifoglu said.
