Ramiz Rzayev, the Chairman of the Azerbaijan Superior Court, informed Trend that fifty five judges, who succeeded the selection exams, are expected to commence fulfilling their responsibilities.

1,000 people submitted their applications to take part in the test exams in 2006. 800 out o the total number of applicants attended the test. 55 applicants passed all stages of the selection. According to Mr. Rzayev, 323 judges currently work in the country. 48 judges were punished in 2006.

There ought to be no ways for such facts, since judges should serve as an example to everybody, said Mr. Rzayev

The Superior Court of the Country every Tuesday, holds seminars for studying precedent law. Representatives of international organizations are invited to take part in the seminars as well. When judges do not know conventions, they apply them incorrectly and wrong. Unfortunately, nobody knows English good, therefore it is difficult for Azerbaijan judges to pass a period of training abroad.
