Rafig Abbasov, the Chief of the Department for the Fight with Human Trafficking, informed Trend that the status of the second group attached to Azerbaijan in the annual report prepared by the U. S. State Department is a progress in the sphere of fight with human trafficking.
The country was previously in the second group of control, that is one step lower than the second group.
Starting from January, 2007 and up to date, 25 facts related to human trafficking have been registered. 24 criminal cases were initiated, with 22 detained persons brought to responsibility. Moreover, three persons and one gang group engaged in human trafficking were arrested.
