Next Petition of Former Azeri Health Minister against Judges’ Composition was not Discussed

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend E.Javadova / On 2 March the court session over the cases of the former Health Minister of Azerbaijan, Ali Insanov and other 10 prosecuted people continued in the Azerbaijan Court on Heinous Crimes.

The next petition of the former Health Minister against the composition of judges was not discussed. The Minister said that he does not trust on the judges of Azerbaijan and required to invite advocates from Europe to protect his rights.

The Judge Faig Gasimov said that since the first day of the court session, Insanov's advocates have presented petition against the composition of the judges and the petition has not been considered. "I consider that present there is not necessity to consider this petition," the Judge said. After this Prosecutor Kamran Aliyev presented a petition. He asked the Judge to verify the differences between the initial evidences of 7 accused persons. "In addition, prosecuted Alexander Umnyashkin stated in his evidence that he sustained pressure during the investigation. I ask this question to be resolved. In addition, I ask you to verify several information in Umnyashkin's evidences. One information is linked with the death of the Department Chief of the Health Ministry, Gatili Nasibov, who has sustained pressure by the investigators," Aliyev said.

The Judge was satisfied with the petition of the prosecutor.

Thereafter, the former Chief of the Health Ministry's Department of Pharmaceutics and Medical Technique, Akif Maharramov, was questioned as prosecuted. He is accused of giving bribe to Insanov. Maharramov said that he does not agree with the accusations.
