Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr I. Alizadeh / the formation of Trades Unions at foreign companies in Azerbaijan is so problematic, because the managements of the companies resist it.

Sattar Mahbaliyev, the Chairman of the Confederation of Azerbaijani Trade Unions, stated that the lack of trade unions at the foreign companies causes serious infringement of labour rights.

"The companies are eligible to fire the employees just when they wish. The contracts are completely useless. Only trades unions can oppose such manifestations and that is the major reason making the companies avoid it," MP said.

He stressed that earlier the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and the Trades Union of Azerbaijan held inspection in one of the foreign companies. As a result, they revealed that 51% of the staff are foreigners and 49% - locals. "It contradicts the Azerbaijani legislation. So, it is planned to appeal to the President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic in this respect. Such incidents should be prevented and the relevant item should be included in the contracts with foreign companies," Mahbaliyev urged.
