Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr K. Zarbaliyeva / A preparatory sitting presided by the judge Mirpasha Huseynov on the case of the Nota Bene newspaper contributor, Faramaz Novruzoghlu, and the Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper, Sardar Alibeyli, was geld at the Azerbaijani Court of Appeal 13 March. The legal procedure on the case was fixed on 27 March.
Novruzoghlu and Alibeyli are accused in accordance with Article 147 (libel) and 148 (offence) of the Criminal Code. On the grounds of the suits brought by the Ministry for Internal Affairs Ramil Usubov and the Chairman of the State Committee on Azerbaijanis in Abroad Affairs Nazim Ibrahimov the Narimanov District Court sentenced Novruzoghlu to 2 years of imprisonment, while Alibeyli was sentenced to 6 month of reformatory work.
