Witnesses Provided Evidences over Case of Former Health Minister of Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend E.Javadova / On 15 March the court session over the criminal cases of the former Health Minister of Azerbaijan, Ali Insanov and other 10 prosecuted people continued with evidences of witnesses. Insanov and other prosecuted persons are accused of taking bribe, misuse of the authorities, illegal privatization.

Witness Ali Mammadov said that he has chemist's shop. He said that in order to receive license, he applied to the employee of the License Department of Ministry of Health, Haji Aliyev. Aliyev required $1000 for giving license. According to the witness, after he paid of the required amount, he was given license. Thereafter, the Director of the Medical School No. 1, Hagigat Hamzayeva, was questioned as witness over the episode of illegal admission to medical school. Hamzayeva stated that on the base of the letter from the Health Ministry, 247 entrants were admitted to medical school in 2004.

"These entrants were those who could not enter the higher education institutions in the entrance examinations. When we were interested how these entrants will be provided with diplomas in the future, Insanov said that this issue has been agreed with the State Commission for Student Admission," Hamzayeva said.
