Rights of Georgian Azerbaijanis Discussed at 4th Congress of National Assembly

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr. S. Ilhamgizi/ Dashgin Gulmammadov, the President of the National Assembly of Azerbaijanis of Georgia, has told Trend that the fourth congress of the National Assembly Georgian Azerbaijanis has taken place.

The congress was held in the Turkish Black Sea City of Trabzon on March 15-16, 2007. During the event, the delegates discussed the social and political situation in Georgia, rights of Georgian Azerbaijanis, participation of the National Assembly of Azerbaijanis of Georgia in parliamentary and presidential election campaigns to be held in Georgia, etc.

During the congress, the President of the Assembly made a report. Then, the delegates adopted the new Charter of the Organization, as well as held elections to the leadership of the Assembly - the Supreme Majlis and Central Control Chamber of the Organization. Mr. Gulmammadov was elected the President of the National Assembly of Azerbaijanis of Georgia again. In addition, the Supreme Majlis of the Organization consisting of 11 persons was formed and Central Control Chamber consisting of 3 persons. The delegates of the event took a decision that the Organization would certainly take part in the forthcoming election campaigns to be held in Georgia.
