Baku Electricity Network Recognized as Damaged Side

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / On 9 April, the Court on Heinous Crimes of Azerbaijan, chaired by Judge Sadraddin Hajiyev, completed the preparatory hearing of the President of Barmek-Azerbaijan, Huseyn Arabul and 7 of its employees.

Advocate Vugar Khasayev, said that the Court did not ensure the petition of the advocates on completion of the criminal case and replace the sentence of arrest with preventive punishment for several prosecuted employees. The petition of the prosecutor recognized that Baku Electricity Network, who subsequently took over from Barmek, suffered as a result. The court consideration on the case will commence on 18 April.

Investigation into the case revealed that the Barmek employees misappropriated AZN 9,143,940 from consumers. The President of the Company, Huseyn Arabul, is accused, in accordance with Article 179.3.2 (appropriation and dissipation), Article 308.2 (misuse of authorities) and Article 313 (service falsification) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. The employees of Barmek-Azerbaijan, Vice President, Omer Guner Ismayl, Director of Technical Department, Vafa Agayev, former General Manager, Chingiz Ibadov and others are accused of Article 179.3.2 and Article 313 of the Criminal Code.
