Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr. K. Zarbaliyeva/ Aghaveis Shahvardi, a lawyer of the former Azerbaijani Health Minister, Ali Insanov, has said that the lawyers of the Ex-Health Minister have sent a written appeal to PACE (Parliamentary Assembly to Council of Europe).

Mr. Shahverdi says that the appeal reflects the wide information about violations, which were allowed during the arrest, pre-trial investigation, and legal proceedings on the case of his client. Lawyers of the Ex-Health Minister consider a torment to hold his 62-year-old elderly and seriously ill, who does not represent any threat to the society, in one-seat prison cell through a quite long period of time. His lawyers, who insist on the Azerbaijan Court's violating the Convention on Protection of the Rights and Freedoms of Human Being, considers important to take into consideration the great services of the former Health Minister in the field of the World medicine.

During the meeting between human rights activist, Novela Jafaroghlu and Add Derse, the U. S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan, the mentioned legal proceeding, including the moments, when the rights of Mr. Insanov were violated, were discussed. Mr. Jafaroghlu said that appeals, letters of internationally-known and recognized scientists in the field of medicine, and other corresponding documents had been submitted to the American Ambassador. The American diplomat pledged to investigate this issue as well.
