Azerbaijan, Baku / Т corr K. Zarbaliyeva / On 24 April, a session took place, chaired by Judge Nariman Huseynov, in the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan with regards to an appeal on the sentence of Sakit Zahidov, the employee of Azadlyg newspaper.
However, Zahidov's advocate Vugar Khasiyev said that the Court upheld the sentence of the Court on Heinous Crimes. Sakit was found guilty by the Court on Heinous Crimes in compliance with Articles 234.1 (illegal acquiring and keeping of drugs) and was condemned to a 3-year imprisonment.
On 24 April Zahidov was transferred to the treatment institution of the Penal Service.
