The representative of the Organizational Committee of the Award, Eugenie Kurachkov, said on 24 April in presenting the medal that Sheikh Ul Islam was the first laureate of the award. The medal was established by the International Association of World Funds, World Federation of Veterans and International Fund of Veterans 'Memory of People'. The medal was established on the eve of 62nd anniversary of the victory over fascism and the list of future laureates includes outstanding public, political and religious figures and representatives of science and culture, Kurchakov added.

"Out nations are historically connected by the closest relations, and it is important to support historical relations. Our nations fought against fascism together during World War II," said Pashazade. At that time, nobody divided the Soviet people into various nations. "Various nations came together in the trenches, but our fathers were unified by a single spirit of fight for our common land.
