Zarbaliyeva/ Legal proceedings on the suit brought by a former employee of the Armed Security Department of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Nadir Aghabalayev, against the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry, Public Prosecutor's Office of Yasamal District of Baku, and Public Prosecutor's Office were held today in the Yasamal District Court of Baku presided by Judge Isa Ismayilov. Notably, Mr Aghabalayev was previously acquitted in the case of premeditated murder.

According to the lawyer, SOCAR's Armed Security Department has been excluded from the list of defendants, but the Finance Ministry has been added to this list. In his suit, initiated at the Yasamal District Court, Mr Aghabalayev, who had been previously accused of Article 120.2.3 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, insists on compensation for the material and moral damage caused to him in the amount of AZN 200,000 from those persons, who were guilty of his illegal arrest.

Notably, the Azerbaijani Court of Serious Crimes acquitted Mr Aghabalayev. By an enquiry made by the State Public Prosecutor's Office, checkups were conducted in the Azerbaijani Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of the Country, and the sentence pronounced by the court in the first instance has been kept in force.
