Alizadeh/ Ali Husseynov, the Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Legal Policy and State Building Issues of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijan's Parliament), and member of the Azerbaijani Parliamentary Delegation to PACE, said during today's press-conference that the founder and editor-in-chief of the newspapers Realniy Azerbaijan (Real Azerbaijan) and Gundalik Azarbaycan (Daily Azerbaijan), Eynulla Fatullayev is not a political prisoner.
He said that the Council of Europe might certainly become concerned over his arrest, if it had become a consequence of a dispute between the journalist and authorities. "The suit against Mr Fatulayev was brought Azerbaijani's of the town of Khodjali, subjected to genocide by Armenians in February, 1992, whose honour and dignity were insulted, and the court passed sentence to him. Expressing his position towards the arrest of the journalist, Samad Seyidov, the Head of the Azerbaijani Parliamentary Delegation to PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe), and member of the Azerbaijani Parliament, noted that nobody would want anybody to be arrested.
