Convict Sentenced to Life Imprisonment Applied to Supreme Court of Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Zarbaliyeva / Another appeal regarding the sentence passed for a convict Arif Hajiyev was submitted to the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan. The attorney of the Hajiyev, Elman Osmanov, reported on 27 April that the appeal requests for replacement of the sentence into a 15-year imprisonment.

Hajiyev was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2006 due to accusation in murder of a police officer, Movlan Alibeyli, committed in the Narimanov district of Baku. He was charged with Articles 120.2.3, 120.2.6 (premeditated crime), 279.1 (formation of illegal armed units and groups), 228.3 (illicit obtaining, storage, transmission, selling of weapons, ammunitions, and explosives), 315.1 (resistance for public agents), 320 (preparation, selling, application of forged documents, false state awards, stamps, and letterheads) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan Republic.
