Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Aghayeva / A new catholic church constructed on the 10 Nobel Avenue will be consecrated to God on 29 April. The representative of the Roman Catholic Church to Azerbaijan, Ian Chapla, said that a mass will be held in the church on this occasion.
The official opening ceremony will be held with the participation of high-ranking officials from Vatican. The delegation from Vatican will visit Azerbaijan in June. The officials of the Azerbaijani government, ecclesiastics, and socially active members of the country will be invited to the ceremony.
The construction of the church was financed by the Roman Catholic Church. Azerbaijani catholic community includes some 250 persons. The number of the catholic foreigners residing in Azerbaijan is also about 250.
