Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynli / Nushiravan Maharramli, the chairman of the National Television and Radio Council (NTRC), informed Trend on 1 May that the Council has developed a package of proposals on settlement of the problems of Azerbaijani regional TV channels.
The issue will be considered at a meeting with the directors of the regional TV channels at the end of the week, with the focus of the meeting to be the present state of the regional TV channels. "The major disadvantage of the regional TV channels is their low level of material and technical basis and advertisement market, "Maharramli said. He also stressed that the financing of the TV channels by public budget is not on the agenda at present.
There are 12 regional TV channels in Azerbaijan, including 2 channels in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
