Deputy Minister: Arrested Azerbaijani Parliamentarian Holds Hunger Strike (video)
Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / The Deputy Justice Minister of Azerbaijan and also the Chairman of the Penal Service, Nazim Alekperov, briefed the media on 5 May that parliamentarian Huseyn Abdullayev who is in the treatment institution of the Penal Service has been continuing the hunker strike for already two days.
He stressed that the employees of the Service hold talks with Abdullayev to keep him from the hunger strike. Alekperov hopes that the action will be terminated in the nearest future. According to the Deputy Minister, the strike is not liked with the detention conditions. He stressed that Abdullayev appealed to the State bodies in connection with his arrest. Abdullayev's complaint is investigated and a response will be provided to him.
Alekperov underlined that the investigation on Abdullayev's criminal case has been completed and the materials will be presented to be considered by the Court in the near future.
