Azerbaijanis Hold Meeting in Strasbourg for 15th Anniversary of Occupation of Azerbaijani city of Shusha

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Ilhamgizi / Vazeh Askarov, the director of the Association of Azerbaijani Students of France, reported on 8 May that Azerbaijanis held a meeting in Strasbourg to protest against the occupation of the Azerbaijani city Shusha, being the 15th Anniversary.

The demonstration was attended by Azerbaijani students studying in France, the activists of diaspora organizations, and the MPs of Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani parliament). The chairman of the World Congress of Azerbaijanis (WCA) Javad Direhdi, the deputy chairman of the WCA Khazar Emin, MP Ganira Pashayeva, the people's artist Niamaddin Musayev and other attendees spoke on the occupation policy pursued by Armenia, the occupation of Karabakh and Shusha in particular. The occupational activities of Armenia, its non-fulfilment of UN resolutions, the celebration by Armenians of Shusha's occupation day, were criticized. The slogans "No to Occupation by Armenia", "Kocharian is the Worst Criminal" and others were voiced during the demonstration.

Mustafa Alinja, the director of the House of Azerbaijan, informed attendees of the occupational activities of Armenia.

During the demonstration Azerbaijani MPs distributed the booklet "Truth about Karabakh" and leaflets about the Krabakh conflict to gatherers.

Armenia occupies 20% of Azerbaijani territory (Nagorno-Karabakh and seven nearby regions). The Azerbaijani city of Shusha was occupied on 8 May, 1992. A ceasefire agreement was signed between the two countries in 1994.
