France, Strasburg / Тrend corr A. Ismaylova / The Secretary General of the Council of Europe (CE), Terry Davis, stated on 30 May in Strasburg that the problem with media in Azerbaijan was a matter of democracy, not only human rights.
During a meeting with journalists Davis voiced his concern about media-related events that occur in Azerbaijan
"We are concerned about media problems in all countries. But the most concern is for South Caucasus countries," he noted.
The CE Secretary General said that progress had lately increased in Azerbaijan. Progress not only in economy, but in the rate of well-being. At the same time Davis indicated the problem with media as a step backwards. He also called upon journalists to act more responsibly while writing their articles.
