Azerbaijani and Tbilisi Pupils Meet

Georgia, Tbilisi / Trend corr. N.Kirckhalia / The Georgian Education and Science Ministry reported on 1 June that fifty Azerbaijani pupils of the Uzuntalo village visited 117 Tbilisi public school within the framework of the Program on School Partnerships.

Some 150 pupils from Ossetin and Georgian schools participated in the meeting in Tbilisi, Georgia's capital.

The Ministry has been holding the programme since2004. The aim of the programme is to establish friendly relations among pupils, teachers and parents of Georgian schools and representatives of national minorities.

The Georgian pupils visited with Azerbaijani families in the Marneul region in 2006.

The programme costs $65,000. Experts consider that the programme has a serious meaning in the process of integration of national minorities into Georgian society.
