Project to Integrate Azerbaijanis Residing in Georgian Society, Carried Out

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / The project for learning the Georgian language and the integration into Georgian society of Azerbaijanis residing in Georgia has been carried out.

The Institute of Democracy, Development and Peace began the implementation of the three year project to render assistance to non-Georgian people, who reside in Georgia, in integration and participation in democratic processes.

The project envisages holding courses of the Georgian language for Azerbaijanis, for the social life in Georgia, opening of Internet clubs, strengthening of relations between Azerbaijani and Georgian media.

Aflatun Amashov , the Chairman of the Azerbaijani Council of Press, attended the meeting due to the implementation of the project, held in Tbilisi.

Amashov noted that the project, financed by the European commission, had a significant meaning, as it regards Azerbaijanis, residing in Georgia. The Azerbaijanis, residing in Georgia are an indigenous population, who took part in the creation of history and culture of this country.

"The integration of our compatriots in Georgia, participation in the processes within the country is the significant factor, which affects the establishment of a new society in the country," Amashov added.
